Afel Bocoum on the Musical Traditions of Mali

<p><a href="http://i4africa.org/" target="_blank">Instruments for Africa</a> is&nbsp;a nonprofit organization founded by Paul Chandler and Tama Walley to reinforce traditional music, the arts and cultural preservation in Africa.</p> <p>Thus far, they have focused on the <a href="http://i4africa.org/videos/" target="_blank">musical traditions of Mali</a>, which have been documented in revelatory videos where the musicians opine on a variety of things, from the importance of maintaining musical traditions and culture, to the importance of instruments and heritage.</p> <p>The latest video features Afel Bocoum, who discusses his love for music and Mali, as well as the role of musicians and instruments in traditional society.</p> <p>[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChP4zjM1Auk[/embed]</p> <p>Songs from the video series will be released on an upcoming album titled&nbsp;<em>Every Song Has an End: Sonic Dispatches from Traditional Mali</em>&nbsp;on <a href="http://glitterbeat.com/" target="_blank">Glitterbeat Records</a>&nbsp;in March 2016.</p>
