<p>With the Apollo Theater’s annual <a href="https://www.apollotheater.org/event/africa-now-festival/" target="_blank">Africa Now festival</a> <https: www.apollotheater.org="" event="" africa-now-festival=""></https:> set for this weekend and featuring some of today’s hottest African dancehall acts, <em>Best of The Beat on Afropop</em> takes a look back to 2002, when the first wave of dancehall artists springing from African roots and cross-pollinated by Jamaican style began to draw notice internationally.</p>
