DanceAfrica Ticket Giveaway!

Once a year the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) brings DanceAfrica to New York for what is always an astounding display of one of the continent's greatest art forms. In a happy bit of coincidence, this year (the festival's 37th edition) showcases the music and movement of Madagascar, the Indian Ocean island that we just happen to have visited recently. And to celebrate the occasion? We are giving away tickets. Five pairs! For a chance to win, email info@afropop.org with the subject "I want to DANCE!" The artists featured in this year's festival are the cultural performance ensemble Groupe Bakomanga (with whom we spent some time with in Madagascar!), the astounding guitarist Madagascar Slim, and the brilliant Hanitra. With the festivities arranged by DanceAfrica's founder and dance director Chuck Davis, we are sure that this isn't a contest (or an event!) to miss. The show will be at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 18 at the Peter Jay Sharp theater. You can purchase tickets (and find out more details HERE.)
