With each passing
year, Fela Kuti’s music only seems to get more urgent, relevant and
appreciated. The annual celebration of the Nigerian bandleader, horn
player and activist continues with
live music from the New Afrika Shrine nightly this week, all
streamable via Facebook and Instagram.

The theme for this
year is “Viva Nigeria, Viva Africa.” The event has expanded to an
“arts competition,” a dance or “Afrobics competition,” as
well as a "debate," which doesn't appear to be making it to the internet, which is too bad because the prompt was "COVID-19: A Blessing..." and that sounds fascinating.
