Paris DJs Soundsystem - West Indies Vintage Funk Vol.2

<p>This mix of vintage funk from the West Indies from <a href="http://www.parisdjs.com/index.php/post/Paris-DJs-Soundsystem-West-Indies-Vintage-Funk-Vol-2" target="_blank">Paris DJs Soundsystem</a> comes just in time for the summer heat wave hitting NYC! We feel right at home with these funky Caribbean tunes. &nbsp;Following-up on&nbsp;<strong>Loik</strong>'s&nbsp;<a href="http://www.parisdjs.com/index.php/post/loik-west-indies-vintage-funk" target="_blank">first volume</a>&nbsp;- published more than 7 years ago, this mix draws on recent re-issues, compilations and rare albums and singles from the 70s from from Colombia, Panama,&nbsp;Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago, and smaller islands like Barbados, St. Vincent, St. Lucia, Martinique,&nbsp;Guadaloupe and the Bahamas. Listen to the reverberations of 1970s African-American funk interpreted through local rhythms like&nbsp;<em>konpa, son</em>&nbsp;and<em>&nbsp;calypso.&nbsp;</em>Anthems of revolution, political independence and racial equality- such as&nbsp;<strong>Biosis Now</strong>'s "Independent Bahamas" and <strong>Duke<em>&nbsp;</em></strong>from Trinidad's<strong>&nbsp;</strong>"Freedom In Africa"-&nbsp;mix with light-heated dance tunes like the Panamanian calypsonians&nbsp;<strong>De Briano & The Alonso Wilson Quinteto</strong>'s&nbsp;"Concolon (Calypso Windsor)" <strong>Joe Trouillot</strong>&nbsp;with "Le Coq Chante,"&nbsp;or&nbsp;<strong>Marius Cultier</strong>&nbsp;from Matinique with the super-funky "Eso Guede."
