Afropop Meet Up: Jupiter and Okwess, July 19

We love seeing your beautiful faces almost as much as we love seeing the best live music in the world, and so we figured, why not do both?

On Thurs., July 19, join us at Metrotech Commons in downtown Brooklyn, where we'll be watching one of our favorite bands out of Congo: Jupiter and Okwess. Grab your lunch from local vendors and meet up with fellow Afropoppers around 11:30 a.m. up front on the grass on the right side of the stage. Look for folks wearing Afropop Worldwide T-shirts.

Jupiter and Okwess blew everyone away at globalFEST, playing a rocking and rollicking alchemy of local Congolese styles mixed with modern r&b, rock 'n' roll and funk. It's worth taking a long lunch (or early afternoon) to check out.

If you can make it, show up at 11:30 and say hi to the Afropop team and fans. Show is at noon. More info here.

Email questions to info@afropop.org.

Check out this write-up on Jupiter and Okwess in the N.Y. Times.
