<p>Inspired by this week’s encore presentation of <em>Afropop Worldwide</em>’s program on Thomas Mapfumo, as well as by current events surrounding the resignation of Zimbabwe’s leader Robert Mugabe after 37 years, "Best of The Beat on Afropop" brings you a glimpse of Thomas Mapfumo in 1984, just four years after Zimbabwe’s victorious war against and independence from Britain. <br>In an interview with London-based <em>Beat</em> correspondent Charles De Ledesma during Mapfumo’s triumphant U.K. debut, they discuss the impact of the liberation war on music, politics and society. <br></p>
