Dende Releases New Video: Homem da Justiça

<p>Afro-Brazilian bandleader Dendê Macêdo has a new video out today (Oct. 14, 2022). A percussionist, singer, composer, and teacher, Dendé is a force of nature and a standard bearer for Brazilian roots music. </p> <p>His 2022 album <em>Agô</em> is a standout, entrancing start to finish.</p> <p>“Homem da Justiça” (translating as Man of Justice) invokes the <em>orixa</em> Xango, god of justice, and the song describes the <em>amala de Xango</em>, the okra-based offering that is given to him, the axe that he wields and colors that he wears, red and white.</p> <figure><iframe loading="lazy" width="500" height="281" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/QJP58vU842w" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></figure>
